The new Penal Code has entered into force since yesterday. In this case, through a statement, Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has informed citizens of the new measures and has invited them to respect the law and social norms on which our society functions.
Minister Tahiri's full statement:
Dear citizens,
Its democratic order and actual functioning is determined by the quality of laws and effective implementation of them. That's the doctrine we've been working on in the new Penal Code, which since yesterday is in effect.
In this case, as the minister of justice whose vital part of my work I have pointed to the newly materialized criminal policies, I invite you to be informed, to show respect for order and law, and to adhere to the social and legal standards for which we are defined as democratic, progressive, and determined to build a real rule of law.
From now on, a new era begins in justice that applies to our Republic, in which citizens will be more protected from law, while perpetrators of criminal acts will have merit response to the damage to our social order in all its dimensions.
Abusers of the money of our taxpayers, the corrupt and those involved in organized crime will face severe sanctions that sãos have never faced before and from which they will be able to escape.
Those who practice domestic violence and abuse the integrity and dignity of human beings will be subjected to legal punishment, and they will never again be allowed to violate our values as a society that has respect for human life, integrity, and dignity.
Terrorism, its financing, and its promotion will be faced with uncompetitive determination to fight to eradicate any attempts at the logic of patience.
Anyone who violates standards from those attributed to collective damage to driving cars in redress with legal norms will not be able to avoid confrontation with justice.
The state is neutral towards citizens but is committed to justice. The new Penal Code is our base that the Republic and our society have guaranteed them rights and anyone who violates them will be subjected to uncompetitive punishment.
