Summary, what happened at the Berlin Summit

The topic of this summit, among other things, will be dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

And the leaders of the Kosovo state have had a busy agenda during the day.

They at a media conference after the meeting they held at the Kosovo Embassy in Germany, but the same is not that they provided much more details.

Kosovo leaders, president and prime minister after a long time have appeared at the conference together, but the same declined to answer whether this meeting between them means they have also managed to coordinate their positions, now divided over two issues, correction of borders and taxes, the Indexline forwards.

And as they went to Berlin, Kosovo leaders, together with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and incumbent Minister of Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj, were seen agreeing to what they had intended there.

Before the leaders of the Western Balkans were expected, the two officers of the Berlin Summit, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron, appeared at a news conference.

Connecting to reaching an agreement between Macedonia and Greece, Merkel and Macron demanded that emotions be put aside during reaching the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.

The first to be hosted by German Chancellor and French president has been Hashim Thaci.

In a Facebook post, Thaci shared some photographs from the wait.

The meeting among the leaders of the region has named it special, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, until it has posted some photos from the reception given to him by Merkel and Macron.

“Waiting for Chancellor Merkel and President Macron at the beginning of the summit for Western Balkan countries. This meeting is a good opportunity for leaders in the region to talk openly about common challenges and aspirations on the Euro-Atlantic road”.

While in a longer status, Thaci has been submitted, as he announced what he has stated at the opening of the meeting.

There Thaci reiterated once again that reaching an agreement is impossible if Kosovo is not recognised as a state by Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the opening of the Berlin Summit, I talked about regional co-operation and reconciliation. The situation and relations are low, so under such circumstances many good initiatives from the Berlin Process have remained unfulfilled. This bad situation cannot be overcome by mere claims and abstract promises. Bold decisions are needed by the countries of the region, which will not happen as long as there are no bold and strategic decisions by the European Union and member states. Even reconciliation will be impossible as long as Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina do not recognise Kosovo's independence. Germany and France are able to take leadership for these bold decisions. But one of the first decisions the European Union would have to make is visa liberalisation for our citizens. Kosovo has unjustly remained the most isolated country in Europe. Kosovo citizens are the most pro-European people in the region and it is very unfair to continue being discriminated against! ”, Thaci wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has called on officials of the Berlin Summit to help Kosovo protect the right to citizenship and territorial integrity in the European Union.

Haradinaj has expressed his readiness to resolve all open issues between Kosovo and Serbia since today.

The executive head has expressed the need for opening borders between Kosovo and Serbia, not as he said, creating new borders.

After the meeting ended, Balkan leaders posted for a joint photo. What has been observed in this photo is the Kosovo flag, along with the flags of other states in the region.

Despite a long day, however, even this meeting of leaders has not achieved any concrete results.
