This independence, according to justice experts, is already being violated and destroyed inside by the leaders of the system itself. The prosecution's body has repeatedly been convicted of links to political strengths and failure in the fight against organised crime and corruption, Koha Ditore writes today.
The Vetevendosje Movement's continuing criticism that the chief state prosecutor has been caught by politics will culminate in organising a protest Friday. For the VV, with Alexander Lumez at the helm of the prosecution, the state of Kosovo from the Republic has turned into “Bunny” Meanwhile, the Prosecutorial Council has expressed indignation about, as they have said, the <x2-denigative, propagandative, offensive and threatening language of Vetevendosje”. According to them, this has taken on biased proportions and aims at violating integrity, independence and damaging the image of the prosecutorial system.
But representatives of organisations overseeing the work of the Prosecutor say the integrity and credibility of this institution have seriously damaged the implementation of selective policies in relation to prosecutors themselves within the system.
Ehat Miftaraj is executive director at the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD). According to him, the best way to protect the prosecutorial system from outside interventions and influences from anyone, whether domestic or domestic, is to govern this institution with the prosecutorial system independently, impartial and fair.
