MPs from the Kosovo Assembly have expressed concern over the rush to education, which has resulted from the strike and the disrespect of the Education Minister's decision, Fatmir Bytyqi, to compensate for lost hours, reports Online Economy.

Driton Caushi, of the Social Democrat Party ranks, said the topic of hours compensation has not been the right address to be extended in the Kosovo Assembly.

We should also discuss a topic like that of compensation for hours and I believe that talking to this issue has not been the proper address of Kosovo's Parliament since even after that discussion we have a huge responsibility, as well as that of the institutions, but also the leaders of the SBASK since they do not represent the opinions of teachers”, he said.

According to Chaush, Kosovo is facing a damaged and low-quality education system.

It's very bad that we as a society face a damaged educational system and low quality, but should we give up on that fact and what happens to ignore it. It's absurd when the SBASK recognizes the moral obligation and the need to compensate hours and at the same time does not accept any form of compensation, but it is disturbing that there is no voice from the committee of parents and educators to reject such a fact. If we agree that this is a huge damage, we must not stop and seek responsibility for this work”, Caushi added.

The MP from AAK's ranks, Teuta Haxhiu, said she has received information that during this half-year, students are left with unfinished grades.

“Sindiya has changed this time that I probably never believed they have with the educational system block. I've got information that at the first half-year, students don't have their final grades. Our efforts should not stop them, the minister of Prime Minister should not be called to something that could be harmed to the students, much more. The SBASK”, Haxhiu said.

Commission Chairman Ismajl Kurteshi added that paying back the hours is wrong and damaging students.

We have clearly said that the education commission is for compensation of hours. Our attitude has not changed, we think it's wrong not to compensate for the hours even with this are being damaged by students and we shouldn't be silent, but to act”, Kurteshi said.

Lawmakers also discussed the possibility of visits to the education sector where the MP proposal was that this week the commission pay a visit to MAST, then to the education directorates in municipalities as well as schools.

“Today it's good to know when it's going to start working after we're in the fourth month, and by the end of this session it's going to be three months effective, and today we're going to make a good water plan from the co-ordinators, it's going to take days to find out what we've been dealing with, say Kurteshi.

Luljeta Vesela Gutaj from the Democratic Party of Kosovo said these visits should be realised as it must be known what pre-university education is facing.

We can take a visit to MAST this week and visit the education directors within the month to get the data on what problems pre-university education is facing, Vesela-Gutaj said.

The MP from the AAK ranks, Teuta Haxhiu, recommended that visits to schools that are not in good condition be given priority.

We should not only visit the institution in the inspectors but also visit some schools that are not in good condition, but we should also expect recommendations from municipalities. It is best that our visits to schools are made to all regions”, she said.

And Commission Chairman Ismail Kurteshi requested that a visit to the Presevo Valley be made under the framework of visits to hear the problems and troubles of Albanians there.

“I want to set issues like visiting the Presevo Valley that we have taken over as a commission and we have received the positive answer to get there. I think there are three issues you buy to go to the Presevo Valley because they need both moral support and the mayor of Bujanovac has asked us to go”, he said.
