The country's president, Hashim Thaci, has written about Belgrade's ultimatum of the possible removal of Serb members from Kosovo security institutions.
Thaci has stressed that it is in each person's will to decide whether to stay or leave, but anyone who leaves will not return and their countries will immediately be met with other members of all communities.
The “upcoming deadline when Belgrade authorities have warned they will push specific segments of members of the Serb community to decide whether to leave or remain in the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. As this has to do with security segments and they are citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, I reiterate that Serbia should immediately stop the interference and hostile actions in the work of Kosovo institutions, as well as the international community should be much more attentive to this.
If any community members leave the institutions, namely, the police and other security mechanisms, all of them are reconfirmed today that they will be respected in full of constitutionality and legitimacy for all. It's in everyone's individual will to decide whether to stay or leave, but one thing is clear: we don't allow vacuum and anyone who leaves will never come back. Their countries will be met immediately with other members of all communities. Kosovo is not more of an ethnicity or less of another, but it is all of us and we have to build it together!”, President Thaci wrote.
