The Democratic Party of Kosovo considers that determining the minimum wage should not be done at two levels.
At today's Assembly session where the minimum wage hike is under discussion, Safete Hadergyna, PDK deputy, said there should be no distinction at the minimum wage.
Haddrajna said that when the minimum wage by law is set, at two levels -- that 130 and 170 euros -- has not been a good definition.
“If we have to determine the minimum wage, it's good not to be determined at two levels, but have a minimum wage. You can't differentiate our age with employees that are also set minimum wage. The legal regulation of the minimum wage has not gone without debate over whether a regulatory obligation gives us positive effects. We need a real analysis of the growth of the minimum wage”, she said.
According to her, under conditions where informality is high, the growth of the minimum wage may not yield positive effects and may result in a cut in jobs.
However, she said that making the decision on the minimum wage should be made because the law also envisions it, but added that very important for workers is that the law on work has implementation.
