O'Connell has said internationals understand why Kosovo has taken such an action, but according to him, it would have to be thought longer before it is undertaken.
We understand why Kosovo has. There has been pressure from Serbia on Serb KSF soldiers. We've had disappointments about the diplomatic struggle for Interpol and recognition. It was wrong because there was no strategy. The strategy for Kosovo should be what it requires from the dialogue. If dialogue starts tomorrow, Kosovo now has the team's platform, but there is a strategy for what it does not accept and what it does not accept. Kosovo must be prepared for a long process, in order to succeed. The obstacles coming up on this road prevent the two countries from heading towards the EU”, O'Connell said in Info Magazine in Klan Kosova.
On the other hand, he also spoke about the issue of exchanging territories.
“We haven't changed attitude. It is important not only to focus on these matters. Why is it so important what Kosovo thinks about exchange of territories? The important thing is what Kosovo thinks, and there is no public debate. We don't move forward if there's an all-intensive debate”, O'Connell said.
