According to estimates by the Montenegro Employment Office, about 20,000 seasonal workers will be required on the coast this summer season alone.
Labour and Social Management Minister Kemal Purisic said one of the key priorities in the Government's work is achieving economic development as a precondition for increasing citizens' living standards.
He added that the “labour force must become more competitive before Montenegro joins the European Union, since later, by labour market liberalisation, human resources will try to go to EU countries”.
Montenegrin Tourist Association President Zarko Radulovic said Montenegro does not have sufficient labour force.
We need workers in tourism. Our people don't want to work because it's small wages,” Radulovic noted.
Otherwise, the salaries of seasonal workers in Montenegro are about 500 euros, and in the region, higher wages are only in Croatia.
