The Mitrovica municipality has continued with the collapse of houses built without permission in the vicinity of the artificial lake in Mitrovica to create space for the full realisation of the 4.5m project. In all, there are 19 houses built without permission -- 14 of which have collapsed, among them two houses of northern Kosovo Albanian families -- have collapsed from the Mitrovica municipality last Friday.
Another 15 houses will be destroyed in the next few days. One of the owners of the ruined house -- from northern Mitrovica, Nijazi Citaku -- has said his house has been unjustly destroyed, as the subject is on trial. He has added that the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning has overlooked his home collapse, but the municipality has ignored the MMPH's decision, the Zeri newspaper writes.
He has said he is now out, without a home, while underlining that his residence in northern Mitrovica has been usurped. He has also clarified that this property where he built the South house was bought 24 years ago.
I have in my hand the conclusion of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MMPH), which suppresses all activities in the collapse of these residential facilities, but which the Community has overlooked even though the subject is still on trial. There has been no investigation, these have violated this decision of the Ministry of Environment as the second degree in the process and have come to execution. I mean, the municipality has warned us, given us a deadline to complain until Monday, but they've come before and destroyed the house. I don't know where I'm going with six kids or what to do, I don't know but I have to go into my brother's service, I don't have a choice. The two of us who have ruined our homes are northern Mitrovica and our property has been confiscated there and we cannot go back. We bought these properties 24 years ago, but it's found that they're not the property of the vendor”, Citaku said.
Another resident Ramadan Istrefi says municipal officials have not warned him, giving him only 10 minutes to leave the house.
According to the Mitrovica municipality, there are another 70 houses that will be destroyed near the ambient lake.
