Merkel and Macron may ask for tax removal

While, from Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj are waiting to prove a clear position on what Kosovo wants, as Kosovo will otherwise turn out not serious.

So says Artan Murati from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) as he comments on the Berlin Summit, which will be held today and where our state is represented by the president, Hashim Thaci, prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, and Foreign Affairs Minister Behxhet Pacolli.

“I hope these political leaders have been consolidated before going to Berlin that we have seen both Mr. Thaci, and Mr. Haradinaj have diametrically opposing positions as to some basic issues awaiting the Republic of Kosovo, remove the correction of borders, or the continuation of the dialogue, and we would have come out of the question if we went to Berlin without a clear position of what the Republic of Kosovo wants now<x1, he said.

Murati believes dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will be the key topic of this meeting for the Western Balkans.

Because in Berlin, France and Germany are two of the main organisers of the Summit, I expect open issues to be discussed in the Balkans, direct dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia that will be one of the key and normally called on by the two states to remain committed to dialogue. Since it is talked about dialogue, it is unthinkable not to mention the barriers that have been caused to interrupt the dialogue currently, which is to establish the tax, and I am hoping that this issue will also be discussed and that the Republic of Kosovo will be required if not the removal of at least its suspension, and normally that it is up to the country's institutions to make the right decisions, and that they are thinking of making decisions about the future of the country”, Murati said.

And in the media, a draft of the Concussions of this meeting has circulated, indicating that there are no two sensitive topics mentioned there, such as taxes on Serbian products imposed by the Government of Kosovo, as well as the other topic, about the correction of borders.

This draft document has been commented by Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who after meeting with fellow countrymen in Germany, said there is no draft document on what to discuss with Serbia at this meeting. As the president, Hashim Thaci stressed that there is no dialogue with Serbia without the involvement of the United States of America.
