Deutche Welle reports that the German government has a new way of restarting talks between Kosovo and Serbia, learning from the Cold War and an 1972 agreement between Western Germany and East Germany
According to Deutche Welle's close sources in the German government, they say the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina could be modeled under the agreement proposed by Willy Brand's Chancellor as part of his then-reducing policies for reducing tensions in the relationship with the eastern bloc and East Germany.
The then agreement tolerated that both German states normalise relations between themselves without having to formally recognise each other's citizenship.
Are these policies inspired by former German Chancellor Willy Brand, suitable for the situation between Kosovo and Serbia, diplomatic sources have told Deutche Welle that it is unlikely to happen, as Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci have declared they do not expect new developments from this mini summit for the Western Balkans.
