The ultra-nationalist German AfD party cannot explain the numerous controversial donations that prominent members of this party have received over the past few months, the AP writes.
The agency estimates that a series of possible political scandals will cast a shadow at the start of the AfD's campaign to enter the European Parliament 26 May.
In addition, German television ZDF has published a series of e - mails between AfD members and Russian officials, who predict the outcome of one of the deputies, Markus Frontmeier, in 2017.
According to the AP, e-mails suggest Frontier will behave like a Moscow “kukulle”, which he denied.
A study published by the German newspaper Bild suggests that AfD support among German citizens fell to 12 per cent, which is the party's worst result in recent years.
