The Kosovo Assembly has started the session, where invited to the inter-specience, is Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Luka, concerning the establishment of Kosovo's new energy company.
The Social Democrat Party, which has called this anchor, has submitted several resolution-shaped recommendations, where the Parliament requires the Government to terminate all actions undertaken so far in terms of registering this new energy company.
Visar Ymer from the PSD presented the recommendations and explained the reasons for the opposition to the establishment of the new energy company.
The “Ide of the establishment of this public enterprise is to mediate and this mediation in the energy market to be used as a kind of balance of the high price of purchasing electricity from the Kosova e Re thermal power plant, and a low price of sales of the distributor and single supplier, or the only operator that has supply licenses in the Republic of Kosovo, that's KEDS, and in this direction, will be the public money of the public company, which will compensate for two types of profits in the entire energy sector or portions of the entire energy system, he said.
He said the Assembly should require the Government and MZE to interrupt all actions undertaken to register the energy company.
“The Assembly requires the government and the Ministry of Economic Development to cut off all actions undertaken so far in connection with the registration of Kosovo's energy company until the Assembly decides to guarantee the commercial agreement between the Conutur Global and the Government of Kosovo for the Kosova e Re thermal power plant. And, don't negotiate any contract until the Parliament decides to approve the guarantee and thus decide whether it agrees with this contract signed by the Kosovo government or asks the Government to cancel this contract and find other suitable ways for the Republic of Kosovo for investments in energy and for adequate supply to our citizens and our energy economy”, he said.
He said that with her work the NKEC public company will cause actual monopoly on the energy market in Kosovo.
Referring to the contract, Ymer said that the Government of Kosovo with Minister Luka's proposal at the Kosovo Energy Company's 15 May 2018 meeting had made a decision to establish NKEC with 100 per cent stake from the Kosovo government.
He added that the government is obliged to establish this company to mediate between the Contur Global Company and the entire Kosovo energy market.
He said according to the contract, the new company has contractual duty that the entire production of the new Kosova e Re thermal power plant, buy from Contur Global, even if it is not necessary for consumption in the Republic of Kosovo.
