The old wooden gates, stone from the outside of the building, and Gothic architecture have significantly complicated the extinction of fire at Notre Dame, experts say.
As CNN explains, during the fire, the main tower and most of the old cathedral in Paris were destroyed, but the two main bells and structures were preserved.
About 400 firefighters worked for hours to put out the fire by the river Sena, while fears monitored the damage.
According to experts, however, the biggest problem was access to wooden roof beams, which form the framework for the large roof.
As the beams began to burn, the outer part of the cathedral made it difficult for the firemen outside the building to approach the fire.
In fact, the stone preserves warmth and smoke, which prevented them from working within the cathedral.
The problem was also the height of the cathedral, since the structure itself had lots of oxygen that broke out in the fire.
CNN also notes that the extinction of air fire, as suggested by US President Donald Trump, was unrealistic.
According to New York college professor Glen Corbet, no pilot would be able to pour water at exactly one location if he moved several hundred miles per hour.
The French Civil Security Agency said any air water dumps could resuscitate Dama's Notation structure and lead to collateral damage in nearby” buildings.
In the first 20 minutes, it was very clear that there would be a bad fire”, said former fireman at the US St. Louis Fire Service Greg Favre.
He adds that the firefighters managed to put fire under their control and to save much of the building, including the two towers, show an extraordinary effort.
After nine hours of fighting, early this morning firemen managed to control the fire, which was completely extinguished hours later.
