At least six explosions have been reported. The three Kochchikade churches, Negombo and Batticaloa, were the target of explosions during Easter services.
Shanghai La, Cinnamon Grand and Kinsbury in Columbus were also hit, reports the BBC.
Social media images showed images within the St. Sebastian church in Negombo, where the flat ceiling and blood were visible on the plates.
Easter Day is one of the great festivals on the Christian calendar.
Sri Lankan media report that even tourists may be among the victims.
