What stands out is the position on opposite sides of Kosovo and Serbian leaders.
Republic of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci is seen on the left side of the photograph, as Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj stands behind him. Albania's prime minister, Edi Rama, is near.
The German Chancellor as a host stays in the centre, while President Emmanuel Macron is on her right-hand side. On Merkel's left-hand side is Federica Moghrini, who had initially not had an invitation to this meeting but came only after European Commission President Johannes Hahn was unable to attend the meeting.
The Berlin summit is the continuation of the Berlin Process agreement signed in 2015.
Otherwise the Berlin Process is the pledge of EU leaders to expand the bloc's Western Balkans.
