Officials from Kosovo, Serbia and Albania will meet again in Berlin on April 29th. Dusan Janjic, director of the Forum for Ethnic Relations, says problems are known and does not expect new genius ideas, Time.net broadcasts.
The Berlin meeting has invited the most powerful European pair -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macro.
Representatives from Kosovo go to the German capital: Hashim Thaci of Ramush Haradinaj, from Serbia Aleksandar Vuciqi and Ana Brnabiq, Nag Albania Edi Rama, the prime ministers of Croatia and Macedonia, Andrej Plenkovic of Zoran Zaev, Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic, and the leader of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdzic and Slovenian Prime Minister Marjan Sharec.
The meeting, according to many analysts, has only been called on in unusual times -- just a month before holding elections for the European Parliament -- and the goal of the meeting has been formulated as a “informal exchange of ideas”.
The “expects all participants to confirm the setting of a peaceful path by trying to solve problems and refrain from the initiative of new topics that are of interest to others, as is the exchange of” territories, Janjic quoted Janjac as saying.
Speaking of the list of officials participating, Janjiqi has said those who have influence and legitimacy have been invited.
“Dodik was not invited, and this, understood, is the message that policy needs to be changed, that it must refrain from changing borders in the Balkans that could have negative”.
Before Berlin, Serbia's president will meet with the presidents of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Si Jiaopin. Janjak thinks these meetings are important for Serbia and Vucinqi to hear their thoughts.
We're seeing that there are changes in Russian politics, that they're sending double signals say toughen the situation there, and maybe even with NATO. Russia wants the Western Balkans to exchange for Georgia. Consultations are necessary, whether to reinforce their position is a matter of perception. It will have an impact, say Merkel if a message from Moscow reaches her back, but it can also negatively affect some of the tools that are very important regional players”, Janjiqi thinks.
He adds that Belgrade can expect two things to confirm its direction or a bit unpleasant news if anyone from the region accuses him of destabilising.
