About 100 invitations from the Special Court have reached Kosovo so far, where only this month have reportedly reached 40 new invitations.
Some of the former KLA participants who have already been interviewed remain hopeful that the Specialised Prosecutor's Office will not be called back.
In December of last year, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office had begun to split “interviews with several former Kosovo Liberation Army members “. So far, as officially revealed, several former senior KLA superiors have also been interviewed, although they have not been told in what case the interview took place, in that of witnesses or suspects.
According to leaders of the Association of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK), so far about 50 people have been interviewed, while over 40 new interviews invitations have arrived in Kosovo during the month of April this year. In total, as they have claimed, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office has sent about 100 invitations to former KLA members.
Some of the former KLA participants who have already been interviewed on this issue remain hopeful that the Specialised Prosecutor's Office will no longer be called for interviews.
But the attorneys accredited by the Special have told the newspaper “Voice” that if the prosecution estimates there is a need for re-negotiation it can invite anyone who has already carried out this procedure again. According to them, except for names that have been made public, which have been invited to interview, there are others who have been to The Hague on the same issue, but who have not wanted to print their cases.
On the other hand, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office refused to provide information about when the first charges could begin.
