In this case, three security forces were injured. The attack was carried out in the town of Zulfi, 250km north of Riyadh, state television Al-Ekbarija reported.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and authorities have provided no details about the identity of the attackers.
Other Saudi media report that the attackers tried to take the car through the gate of an Interior Ministry building but that security forces stopped them when they opened fire.
State media have also posted images from social networks showing dead attackers with automatic weapons and explosives.
