Army takes over Rinas Airport after spectacular robbery

Defense Minister Olta Janka has made the news known.

Like other government institutions, Janka fats the failure of the security system the concession company managing the airport, writes the pencil.

Defence Minister's statement:

The event that took place at Rinas Airport yesterday was certainly a serious event.

I join the concern of citizens and colleagues that something like that cannot happen in an area of particular importance.

What is already known by the analysis and investigation is that security mechanisms, which are under the responsibility of the Chinese airport concession company, have completely failed.

The concession has failed to meet its responsibilities in ensuring physical security parameters and has not implemented mandatory security standards, defined by domestic legislation and the World Civil Aviation Organisation.

This is an irresponsible and very serious violation of Albanian legislation, which I hope, and I believe criminal responsibilities will be concrete.

This situation requires an urgent intervention, because we cannot allow the safety of the citizens to be violated or the image of the country.

For this reason, in terms of a repeat concession responsibility to respect his legal obligations to ensure airport safety, I have ordered that effective deployments of the Military Police and Special Battalion of Our Armed Forces be installed at the airport's security perimeter “Mother Teresa”.

This is a practice, implemented today in almost every European capital, where Armed Forces unit is deployed in support of their fellow police, in order to ensure the safety of objects of particular importance and, above all, in order to ensure the safety of citizens.

Also, since at a very short distance from Rinass Airport, the Air Command of Armed Forces is located, I have also ordered that military police be deployed to this command, thus joining the State Police to support it in ensuring airport safety.

I want to assure all citizens that their safety is our top priority and nobody should question our determination to do anything to guarantee it.
