For two years, 11 domestic violence killings took place

11 murders within two years, as a result of domestic violence, is the tragic balance that testifies to the rise of this ugly phenomenon in Kosovo society.

During the first two months of 2019, 213 cases of domestic violence have occurred.

Meanwhile, between 2018 and 2017, there were 2,000 and 810 cases. Over the years, 11 murders were committed.

“Throughout 2018, one reported a thousand and 541 cases of domestic violence. Victims of those cases were 308 men and 1 thousand 189 females. The most frequent cases have been recorded when violence occurred between spouses in 727 cases, followed by male-babe violence, with 162 cases”, said Kosovo Police.

In addition, it became known that the number of cases of homicide within the family during 2018 is six cases, broadcast Indexline.

“Throughout 2017, one reported a thousand and 269 cases of domestic violence. Victims of those cases were 227 males and 818 females. The most frequent cases have been recorded when violence occurred between marriage mates in 553 cases, followed by male-babe 142 cases. The number of cases of homicide within the family during 2017 is five cases”, told away about Rtv21.

This data, according to Pristina chief prosecutor Imer Beka, speaks of an increase in the number of denouncing domestic violence, although according to him there are still many cases that remain unreported.

In the last two years, we have reports that are very good for me and why we know that those in the family are not reported, and this line is due to the way of life, the transition of the family, and many other issues. But recently it's grown up and we have the guts of the damaged side of ownership”, Beka said. /
