Vjosa Osmani '%s': Twenty years ago, you saved our lives. Help us with visa liberalisation.

Democratic League of Kosovo MP Vjosa Osmani, in terms of the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo, has said it is already the European Union's turn to keep its word to Kosovo citizens. These statements have been made during her stay in Italy as a representative of the Commission for Labour [...]

These statements have been made during her stay in Italy as a representative of the Foreign Affairs Commission, in an interview for the Italian news agency justly, which has asked the Italian state to give its important vote on the day it is voted for visas at the European Council.

Visa liberalisation

It is now the EU's turn to respect the given word, and Italy has an extremely important vote at the European Council”, Osman has said.

Osmani has recalled the fact that Kosovo has already met all 95 criteria for visa liberalisation. She says that if the EU does not liberalise visas for Kosovars, then it will lose credibility in the eyes of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

“We hope that soon the EU Council will discuss the issue, as it is also an aspect that concerns human rights. We are risking entering a ghetto in the heart of Europe”, LDK deputy said.

According to Osmani, it is incomprehensible how the EU has left out of its umbrella -- a small country of 1.7 million people -- when it already negotiates visa liberalisation even with large countries like China.

The LDK MP says it is unfair to link the immigration issue with visa liberalisation.

She says Italy can have a very important role, being a promoter of the demands of the Republic of Kosovo at the European level.

You are a country that saved our lives 20 years ago, as the people of Kosovo were subject to genocide policies and war crimes against humanity. Twenty years later, as an independent and sovereign state, Kosovo is trying to overcome a series of obstacles to the process of consolidating and strengthening the state so that it can also contribute to the peace of the region”, Osmani has added.

Rate

In this interview, Osman also talked about the tax imposed on Serbian and Bosnia and Herzegovina products.

“The measures imposed by the Government of Kosovo for importing Serbian and Bosnian products have not fallen from heaven. Serbia has consistently rejected the existence of our state as a sovereign country that for more than ten years is independent, also preventing economic development and membership in international organisations, such as INTERPOL and U. NCO”, Osman added, writes Express.

She has added that Serbia has repeatedly violated the CEFTA agreement, in relation to the Republic of Kosovo.

Brussels dialogue Kosovo- Serbia

As for blocking dialogue with Serbia, Osman has said the EU should take responsibility for the issue.

I have to say that the EU should take responsibility for the fact that dialogue has strayed from the way it was originally targeted. Dialogue is deliberately called a normalisation process, which has to create normal reports between the two countries, and needs to see people's concrete problems. If you look at my town Mitrovica, people have not benefited at all from this process, but it is said some agreements involving freedom of movement have been successful, even though Serbia needs to respect them more “, the LDK deputy Vjosa ossman has suggested.

Without US involvement, dialogue cannot continue

According to her, the EU should have a constructive role in reaching the agreement, adding that without US and EU involvement, dialogue cannot continue.

According to her, Kosovo wants to become an EU member, but stresses how many chapters have been opened to Serbia and how many Kosovo, calling such a thing as inequality and injustice.

“There is no point in opening 22 chapters for Serbia, and only two for Kosovo”, Osmani has said of the Italian agency '%nova).

Kosovo- Serbia

Speaking of the idea of correcting the borders, she has said that Kosovo is fully opposed to a destabilising idea of correcting the borders between Kosovo and Serbia, as Kosovo's borders are set on February 17th 2008.

“We are against the destabilising idea of changing borders between Kosovo and Serbia, as borders were established on February 17th 2008, as confirmed by the International Court of Justice, known by 116 countries around the world. Not knowing these borders would not only destabilise Kosovo, but also the entire Balkan region, with a APUDomino effect, which can be used as precedent both by countries around the world to justify their illegal annexations. The entire Kosovo government opposes these dangerous ideas”, has posted Osmani in this interview for the news agency '%Noova, translated by Express newspaper.

Osmani says Kosovo's borders are non-negotiable and that Kosovo's independence is a closed process.

According to her, borders cannot be changed without bloodshed, violence and ethnic cleansing.

The declaration of Kosovo's independence is irreversible and its borders cannot be subject to negotiations: this is the vision of all political parties in Kosovo, so we are against changing borders. Serbia must sit on the table and mutual recognition should be the ultimate goal as long as they will not be able to enter the EU Chapter 35 envisions normalising relations with Kosovo, and this cannot happen without mutual recognition. The agreement involving changing borders would lead to destabilisation in the Balkans, with bloodshed, as the borders unfortunately do not change without violence or ethnic cleansing”, has continued.

Secret Negotiations

She has also talked about secret negotiations between Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.

Kosovo is a parliamentary democracy, and if the president or anyone else wants to find a secret agreement, he should know that he will not be accepted by parliament and that the most important one will be rejected by the people of Kosovo. Better it is to have no agreement at all than to reach a bad deal”, it is expressed.

Finally MP Vjosa Osmani has said the entire political class is for continuing Brussels' dialogue. She says this dialogue should be developed at equal levels like states between Kosovo and Serbia, and contribute to solving problems and improving citizens' lives.
