Tusk calls emergency EU meeting for Great Britain

This senior official organised the meeting of state leaders in Brussels several minutes after the deputies of the Lower Chamber rejected the prime minister's agreement by a majority of 344 votes, despite its warning that the refusal would destroy Brexit.

“Based on the rejection of the withdrawal agreement in the Lower Room, I have decided to call an emergency meeting, which will be held on April 10,”, Tusk wrote on Twitter.

After that development, Great Britain will remain a member of the European Union by at least 12 April, and will be able to ask for an extension of the deadline if the prime minister brings a new plan.

Through a statement, the European Commission has stated that the EU's rise of Great Britain without agreement is now more likely to occur. An EC spokesman said: “Commission laments the negative vote that took place today in the Lower Chamber. It is for Great Britain to decide the way to go before 12 April, which will then be examined by the European Commission.

“The benefits of the withdrawal agreement, including the transition period, in no circumstances will apply in the event of leave without agreement. Small sector agreements are not option”, he added, writes the “The Guardian”.
