SBASK submits indictment against August, no payment of lost hours

The United Education Union has handed over to the Constitutional Court in Pristina today indictment of the Minister of Education, Science and Technology's decision, Fatmir Bytyqi, for compensation of hours lost during the strike. SBASK Chairman Nundman Jasharaj said that through this indictment they have sought suspension of the decision, as he considers it a decision that is not based on law, Kp reports.

This act is being done by the fact that we consider his decision to be not based on any law nor on the law of strikes. The SBASK, with the document he handed over, has originally asked the tribunal to suspend the decision of Minister Bytyqi and then to make a merit decision on the arguments that we've put on and on the laws of strike... We consider that we are right based on the law on strikes which does not force anyone to compensate for the missing hours “, Jasharaj said.

He has also appealed to the Municipal Education Directors not to follow this August decision until I issue justice to the merit verdict.

Jasharaj says they have not requested the resignation of Minister Bytyqi, but seek better co-operation for compensation of lost hours due to the strike.

We didn't ask to go out in the political field, but I'm saying Minister Bytyqi should rather co-operate with the SBASK because it was seen that we are the voice of Kosovo teachers, we work with him and we engage in their demands. The strike is legitimate, and much better it would be to join us in giving in to teachers with an appeal and prayers to consider opportunities to compensate hours rather than give unfair orders and are not legal”, Jasharaj said.

We remember that the entire education system in Kosovo has held a strike for more than three weeks with the demand for salary increases.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has come up with the decision that lost hours due to the strike be compensated for teaching during spring break, as well as to hold the learning process on Saturdays.
