Pope Francis opens secret archives from World War II

Some Jews reportedly accused Pius 17, who was Pope from 1939 to 1958, of acting in no way against the Holocaust. The Vatican, however, claimed that Pope Pius 17 worked secretly behind the scenes to save the Jews.
The Vatican has said that Piu had acted quietly behind scenes to save the Jews and not make the situation worse for many, including Catholics in parts of Nazi - occupied Europe.
The archives will open on March 2, 2020, Francis announced during a speech to members of Vatican secret archives.
This decision was welcomed by the American Jewish Committee (AJC), one of the main Jewish groups in the world.
