The GAP Institute has published on the electronic platform “Commentation of Communists” the degree of fulfillment of election promises given by mayors in the last local elections held in October and November 2017.
Out of a total of 903 promises recorded by the GAP Institute, during the period of January 2018 December 2018, the first year of the four-year mandate has been fulfilled 165 promises -- partly fulfilled -- results in 94 promises, in 345 promises there have been initiatives in their fulfillment, while 299 promises have not yet begun to come true.
The largest number of promises made have been marked in the field of infrastructure, education, administration and public services. While areas where there is an impasse in fulfilling promises are that of economy, health, agriculture, as well as urbanization.
The GAP Institute makes monitoring the implementation of promises in only 26 municipalities, because some of the current mayors have not conducted election campaigns.
The municipalities, such as Skenderaj, Mamusa and the ten municipalities inhabited by the Serb majority, have not unveiled any election programme and provided no concrete promises.
Through assessment of the election promises, the GAP Institute aims to hold responsible heads of office for the promises made.
Otherwise, the assessment of promises is made periodically through cooperation with local organizations.
