KSF publishes some facts about environment in Kosovo

With the publication of “certain facts on the environment”, The ASK aims to contribute to the creation of a stable information on the state of the environment in Kosovo.
This publication provides information about economic-Social indicators, energy, agriculture and forestry indicators, railway transport, and air indicators”, the ASS notes.
Here are the facts:
According to this publication, in economic-Social indicators: the total number of residents in Kosovo is 1,798.506; two-thirds of Kosovo's population is at a working age (15-64); where 58.3% of them are not economically active; out of 41.7% of the economically active population, 50.5% are unemployed. Farmers in 2017 had risen to 5%.
To the energy index: The amount of coal available for 2017 was 1,447.85 tons; until in the fourth quarter, (TM4) in 2018, coal production was 1,128.4 thousand tons.
On agricultural indicator: The total area used for agricultural land in 2017 was 416,072,33 hectares; Living and pasture (including the common land) 218 314,30 ha, or (52.5%); while arable land ʹ field was 186 954,16 ha or 44.9%).
To the forest index: The total forest area is 464,800 ha, or 42% of Kosovo's total surface. The leafy forests represent 90% of Kosovo's forests and are dominated by oaks and ahu. The hare forests, on the other hand, cover about 7% of the forest and are dominated by pine, fir, and hermochi.
In the rail transport indicators: in 2017, the number of passengers was 156 thousand; the number of flights from Pristina Airport to TM1 2018 was 1 560, or 13.70% more than in the same quarter of last year (TM1 2017).
In the air index: the average monthly value of the PM2.5, during the January-January 2017 period, based on IHMK data, there were severe VML exceeded for PM2.5. During 2018, however, there were very high worth of powder PM 10 and PM2.5 in several local municipalities.
