“The Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) is the EU's main financial instrument by which the EU supports the implementation of Kosovo reforms in the integration process. During the period 2007-2014, Kosovo had benefited $650 million from IPA funds. In August 2014, for the period 2014-2020, the EU welcomed the Financial Indicative Strategy, which accommodates Kosovo's $645.5m” budget, suggests EPIC in their analysis.
“in April 2018, European Integration Minister appointed National Coordinator for The IPA, responsible for co-ordinating EU assistance to Kosovo. In August 2018, budgetary regulations were revised for all Western Balkan countries, and as a result, Kosovo lost $43.4 million and therefore the entire budget for 2014-2020 has dropped to $602.1 million”, this Institute reports further.
The EU's budget for Serbia increased by $31 million from $1.50 billion in 2014 to $1.53 billion in 2018. And for Montenegro, it increased for $8.6 million from $270.5 million in 2014 to €279.1 million in 2018”, until the announcement.
The priorities set for funding from IPAU funds are: democracy and good governance, rule of law and fundamental rights, environment, climate change, energy, increased competitiveness, innovation, agriculture and rural development, education, employment and social policies. /Periscopi/
