KFOR Commander in Kosovo Laurenzo D'Addario has said the security situation in the country is good. I don't see intensity for corruption. I don't see intensity for corruption. Concern is provocative statements because they create an environment where an incident can deteriorate if it occurs. Strong rhetoric and statements do not help”, he said. D'Addario.
The “is in the whole region a tendency of rhetoric. Some have to do with domestic politics and the other with political discurs. We have to give the best of it not to fall into a rhetorical trap”.
As for Serbia's threat of military intervention in northern Kosovo, D'Addario said he doesn't prefer to comment on them.
I have to say that the environment as I see it and the information I have is not a threat from either side. Our mission is to provide safe and secure environment throughout Kosovo. People are held hostage to the climate of perception, and this is where we pay most attention to the north”.
He has also commented on the development of KFOR military exercises in Kosovo, but that he has said they are not against anyone.
We have increased the number of exercises in the past few days and weeks, and we do so to be available wherever required. We do it because we military apply to practice things. We're doing patrols. People both north and south should not feel threatened. We're doing our job to secure a secure” environment.
As if these exercises are against Serbia, D adaririo answered short “Not at all”
“We have very good discussions with all security organisations in Kosovo. We have good relations with KSF. We also have discussions with the Serbian Armed Forces. We do this to provide an unexpected environment. We don't know about incidents of attacks from south or north, but we have to be willing to do our job”.
“We do patrols with the armed forces [ KSF and police [Kosovo police]. Nothing specific. There's actually been discussions from the press, but we haven't seen escrosses”.
