President Ilir Meta has commented on the political crisis in Albania, as he calls it, warning also of resignation as president if necessary.
I've made every effort to prevent the crisis as president. I'm prepared to leave the warrant and until I'm sacrificed as Salvador Allende, not allowing the installation of a military junta. Its consequences could be serious for Albania”, the head of the Albanian state said.
I have given my arguments to the crisis, which to me is intentional. We do not have the Constitutional Court and, as a result, is violating constitutional order”, Meta said.
As for the extreme opposition decision, with the burning of its deputies' mandates in the Assembly, the head of the Albanian state says it is a “punishable and unacceptable” action.
“The Assembly has 82 legal deputies, including 3 who did not burn the mandates. Any other number is illegal, in political, legal and moral plans. One million Albanians over 18 could be called to approve reforms, but this does not solve the” crisis, Meta said.
According to him, the crisis is not resolved with neither rhetoric nor police methods, but with dialogue and serious efforts. /AlsatM
