According to this office run by Apostolova, the CEC's functioning is vital to democracy in Kosovo.
“we welcome President Thaci's decision to appoint members of the Central Election Commission. The CEC's functioning is essential for Kosovo democracy”, said by this office.
But the appointment of CEC members has dragged on by President Thaci for a year. Despite political parties' reactions, he had stalled the process of appointing members of the CEC.
Only after the US Embassy's call to Pristina, Thaci was active, and Thursday has decreed the eight new CEC members.
Two coalition members remain unannounced PAN, which includes the Shpend Ahmeti PSD.
The latter will send Thaci to the Constitutional, as they think each political party should have a representative in the CEC.
