At noon Friday, when 24 hours were left by the protest called by the opposition before the prime minister, the US Embassy calls for non-inciting violence and failing to destroy public property, writes today “Koha Ditore”.
However peaceful protest is a fundamental pillar of democracy, inciting or carrying out violent acts, including the destruction of public property, are illegal. We encourage all actors of Albanian democracy to exercise restraint in the March 16th protest. The United States Embassy considers Albania's current Government and Parliament legally elected through the 2017 elections, internationally recognised”, the US Embassy's statement said.
The American Embassy even urges MPs who decided to abandon the mandate to allow those who want to work for the future of the country to do their job.
