In posting the embassy, Kosovo is said to be lucky to have the largest wild cat in the Balkans.

They have also distributed an article on what to do to preserve this wild animal.

“Today is Wild Life Day! Kosovo is lucky to be home to a small population of lynx, the largest feral cat in the region” is said to be posting the embassy.

Meanwhile, during 2018, two feral cats were killed in Kosovo. The first case occurred in the village of Metehi, Podujevo, and the second in the village of Varos, Ferizaj.

Similar cases are not rare when irresponsible individuals hunt protected animals. The wild goat, the Balkan lynx, the cobble in the Nemun and Shar's Bjeshks, the wild pig, the searing, the stone threll and the bear are just some of the wild animals endangered to disappear as rare species, by illegal hunting. These animals are protected by the Law in Kosovo.

  3. If criminal offense from paragraph 1. Or 2. This article is carried out of the area; in the group; or in the spoils of two thousand (2,000) Euro or important according to hunting regulations, the chief is fined or sentenced to prison for up to two (2) years.
  4. Anyone who hunts endangered or rare species of animals whose hunting is forbidden or hunts specific species without special permission for such prey is fined and sentenced to imprisonment of three (3) months to three (3) years.
  5. Anyone who fires by using methods of mass annihilation, using the vehicle, or using bright light, is fined and imprisoned by three (3) months to three (3) years.
