Even Great Britain seeks tax suspension, return to dialogue

British Minister for Europe Alan Duncan has said that, unfortunately, regional tensions are continuing to undermine stability and economic development in the Balkans, which in recent months have led to unwelcome friction between the governments of Serbia and Kosovo. Below is the complete transcript of the debate [...]
“E have seen Serbia move states to attract recognition of Kosovo's independence and we have seen Kosovo set a 100 per cent fee of Serbian goods and those from Bosnia and Herzegovina. All of this distracts from the EU-enlightened dialogue on normalising relations,” has said British Minister Duncan.
“We want Kosovo and Serbia to seize the opportunity for agreement, inspired by Greece's leadership and what Northern Macedonia is now in reaching the agreement to resolve the long-standing name issue. We believe that progress between Serbia and Kosovo is possible and urgently necessary, but that negotiations should not be about speed, but should focus on reaching the most stable and optimistic agreement,” he added.
“We continue to pressure on both sides for de-passing tensions and turning into negotiations. With international partners, we have asked the Kosovo government to set steps that are intended to take for the suspension of tariffs and for return to dialogue. It is in Kosovo's interest to keep the moment upright for an agreement.
The Great Britain is a friend of Kosovo. We want the country and its people to flourish and we'll help them do it. On the other hand, Kosovo must be open to deal with its challenges as well as celebrate its successes. For this to be effective, Kosovo will need its friends and I am proud to say that we in the United Kingdom can count ourselves among them,” concluded Duncan. /Periscopi/
