A big fire broke out in an office block in Dacha, Bangladesh, killing at least five people.
The images published by international media show the horrors experienced by hundreds of others, who are overwhelmed by fear of their lives as they were trapped between flames and smoke.
Busy in panic, many have chosen to jump out of the windows of the 19-story building, while others have been photographed hanging by rope to escape the flames.
Three people are taught they died jumping out of the building, while two others were burned inside the office complex.
“Three people appear to have died after jumping from upper floors of the building”, said hospital spokesman Sazzadur Rahman Shuvo for Agence France-Presse. They had serious head injuries, but they had no visible burns.
People in DailyMail's videos are seen screaming for help from windows, with media writing that at least six people have been seen dancing from the burning windows.
Meanwhile, it is explained that at least eight other people are being treated in the hospital. A military spokesman, Abdullah Ibne Zaid, said that the body of a man from Sri Lanka was taken to the army's Kurmitola hospital, and 45 others were treated there.
Firefighters were supported by marine and air force specialists.
Shoikot Rahman ran after listening to his colleagues raise the alarm, putting aside smoke and flames that entered the building.
When I heard a fire broke out in the building, I sped out of there”, he told AFP.
Many of my colleagues are still trapped in office”, Rahman added.
There's no official notice of how many people were trapped inside.
Fire disasters regularly strike the big city of Bangladesh where safety standards are poor. A large fire in the old district of Duka on February 21st killed at least 70 people and injured 50 others.
