Thaci has said he has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin in November last year at the first ever meeting between the two sides, on the occasion of marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, writes France24, broadcasts the Kosovo Clan.
“E I have directly asked what would be Russia's reaction if Kosovo and Serbia reach the agreement? His response was that they will back”, Thaci said at the Council for Foreign Relations in Washington.
His response was that we can no longer become Serbs than Serbs. I can't say I've been amazed, but that I would really welcome him if he keeps his word”, Thaci stressed.
French media quoted Thaci as saying that territorial exchange “could be part of the peaceful” agreement and insisted: “That there will be no boundaries on ethnic grounds”.
“I am convinced that this will bring an end to the war between Kosovo and Serbia once and once for all, and the safe way for NATO and EU membership for both sides” would be opened.
