Strike: Tomorrow they fly planes for 4 hours

The Air Traffic Control Unions Association today has held an hour-long strike to counter the involvement of the Agency for Air Navigation Services in the law on wages. Meanwhile, tomorrow they have warned they will hold a 4-hour strike to continue Friday on strike from 8-16 until Saturday on strike they will be 8-2000.

The strike will be suspended Sunday in honour of Kosovo Independence Day's marking, to continue on Monday with a 24-hour strike. And if after these strikes, nothing is undertaken by trade unions say they will continue with other strikes.

During the strike that today was held by Pristina International Airport “Adem Jashari” has not been launched and has not landed any aircraft.

The head of the Air Control Union, Artan Hasani, has said their strike will bring major problems to air traffic and has called for the law not to be decreed by the president.

With the adoption of the wage law on us as the Agency violated the institution's autonomy and we have expressed ourselves against this law, we think that this law should be returned by the president and not be decreed and interventions for law improvement. Otherwise we are pro-law, she gets the impression that we are against the law, but it must be understood that there are institutions in this country that have their own specifications that can't get into a country or include all these institutions from the wage law”, he said.

Hasan disclosed all legal ways to counter the Law on Salaries, and his strike is the last way they are using it to express their opposition to the law.

“We as the institution or air traffic controllers are the axis of all aviation in Kosovo, and if air traffic controllers declare strike then it is impossible to develop air traffic in Kosovo or the space we own or control. But the law obliges us to provide service even during the strike of military butterflies, ambulances, butterflies in need or in emergency and state. We provide services for these, while commercial traffic services are interrupted”, he said.

He has also invited the president not to have the Law decreed for wages. While the chairman of the Air Control Union Association, Anti-Fazliu, has said he believes their request will be considered.

An earlier announcement by the Agency for Air Navigation Services says that the inclusion of the Agency in the Law for Pays is contrary to European Commission's practices of independence for agencies managing air traffic, when the beginning of their revenues is well known to be generated by air navigation services offered to airline companies.

In addition, involvement in the Law of Salaries is said to conflict with Article 5.5 of the Law for Air Navigation Services Agency, stressing that ASHNA has full judicial capacity and acts as a provider of nonprofit services, which covers expenses and is based on performance.
