The Special Court has so far invited some 20 former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army to interview, but such invitations have not yet received the leading KLA leaders, who are now at the helm of state institutions.
Anton Kuni, protagonist of the battle of Kostunica and one of the KLA's top leaders, who is also the deputy of the Kosovo Parliament, has said that the Special Court should not in any form judge the clean war of the KLA, but only individuals assigned to whom they have doubts.
“As far as KLA purity is concerned, we should have it clear that under no circumstances can and will not be tried, but will be handled by individual cases for which there may be certain doubts. In the practice of the war crimes trial in the former Yugoslavia there has been no collective trial, but individual”, Quinn told the newspaper “Zeri”.
According to Quinn, while we are in the initial phase of the investigation of this Court, it can therefore happen that not to all guests will be brought to an act. “Special Court or Specialised Chambers are in the initial phase, in the interview phase of certain individuals. This means that other phases, even what is related to the establishment or confirmation of the charges, depend on the interview phase, but more on the investigation it has conducted so far. Thus, it may be that not to all who are being interviewed can be raised or confirmed, as may be the case against individuals who may not be invited for an interview”, he has said.
