Malashenko was co-owner of the NTV television company in the 1990s. He was also former head of Russian state television Radio Ostankino.
In 1996, Malashenko has been the principal adviser to the president's presidential re-election campaign, Boris Yeltsin.
Dead journalist Malashenko also established the Media-Mot network in 1997.
