US Secretary Michael Pompeo through a statement issued to the press has congratulated Kosovo's independence.
In his statement, Pompeo has said the US remained committed to helping Kosovo open the door to a promotional future.
On the other hand, he has said normalising relations with Serbia, and mutual recognition will be essential for Kosovo.
The US secretary added that the US is interested in continuing to build partnership with Kosovo.

The United States remained committed to helping Kosovo open the doors to a more productive, stable and secure future in your second decade of independence. The overall normalisation of relations with Serbia -- mutual recognition as its core -- will be essential to Kosovo's success. Ensure this vision also requires continuous steps to strengthen your democratic institutions.
