Thousands of people have protested in Montenegro. They are demanding that the country's president, Milo Djukanovic, resign due to corruption allegations.
The crowd of protesters marched through the streets of Podgorica, cheering “Milo danji” and holding banners, in which they wrote “no crime” and “Rebelim”. This protest was organised after a former associate of Djukanovic accused him and his party, the Democratic Party of Socialists, of damaging financial deals and corruption.
The president has denied these accusations, while state authorities have charged Dusko Knezevqi with money laundering and fraud. He now no longer lives in Montenegro.
Djukanovqi and his party are in power for a long time and are not seriously challenged by other parties. He has led Montenegro's path towards independence in 2006 and its membership in NATO, despite Russia's opposition, writes “Free Europe”, Report Express broadcast.
