Tens of thousands filled Madrid's streets in a protest organised by the right parties against government plans to ease tensions with Catalonia.
The People's Party PP and Ciudadanos (Citizens) were the marching initiatives coming in response to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's decision to offer separatists a rapporteur for talks. The right consider the offer of treason and surrender. Separatists, in each case, rejected the Spanish executive leader's proposal. Sanchezi himself accused the protesters of dividing the Spanish people.
