The protest was organised by the People's Party and the “Citizens”, which reacted after Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez enabled the Catalan separatists a round of talks on resolving their issue.
Rightist parties are praising this offer by the Spanish prime minister as treason and surrender to separatist demands. However, separatist representatives have rejected the government's offer.
Protesters have filled the square in downtown Madrid and the nearby streets, cheering “Long life, Spain”. Police have reported that about 45 thousand protesters are participating in this protest.
