This embassy, through an announcement posted on its official website, has warned of an increased risk of terrorist attacks inspired by extremist ideology in northern Macedonia.
The “terrorist organisations and individuals inspired by extremist ideology aim to attack civilians, including American citizens travelling abroad. Terrorists increasingly use less sophisticated methods of targeting crowds in public places, including pistols, vehicles, and other weapons like knives and similar”, the American Embassy says, Koha.net reports.
The embassy says terrorist attacks and other security incidents usually occur without any warning, and requires that American citizens be very vigilant.
“Extremists aim at each and every time to identify and attack weak ones, such as shopping malls and markets, airports, hotels, clubs and restaurants, shrines, schools, parks, major public events (major events, political gatherings, demonstrations, holiday events, celebration gatherings, etc), the US Embassy in Skopje points out.
