Kosovo spends 100 thousand euros on doctors due to Germany

Do you know that to prepare a doctor, Kosovo's budget costs less than 100,000 euros? From the first day of my studies to graduation, that's how much money is spent on a professor's salary, laboratory material, infrastructure and other expenses necessary for a student who will get the title doctor. A little [...]
Few have counted it. But, 130 of these professional vaults that are spent on cash for only one year have left Kosovo.
This is confirmed at the Kosovo Medical Oda and the Deanate of the Faculty of Medicine.
The latter have also calculated how difficult it is to prepare a medical framework.
According to the prodecans for financial matters at the Faculty of Medicine, Gloria Staka, in the amount of 100 thousand euros, is the cost of “production” of a doctor, for six years some elements are involved.
“The length of time of studies (6 years), the salaries of professors and assistants, laboratory equipment, laboratory and health materials spent during laboratory and clinical exercises, maintenance of infrastructure, and municipal spending are some of the elements that include in this sum”, Staka told the newspaper inFokus.
However, after all these costs, Kosovo institutions are failing to keep the cadres in the country.
The number of doctors who are abandoning Kosovo, each year, is increasing.
This has been confirmed by the newspaper Infocus and the chairman of the Kosovo Medical Oda, Plerat Sejdiu.
“From the March period last year until this month 130 doctors have requested confirmation to leave Kosovo” has declared Sejdiu Pleatat.
According to Sejdiu, there are several factors why the number of doctors leaving Kosovo is high.
If we divide them by 100 percent, for over 75 percent are working and employment conditions, 25 percent are salaries. The conditions for work are disappointing, the possibility of advancement, the pay level are some of the factors that are affecting the departure of doctors from Kosovo”, Sejdiu tells inFokus newspaper.
He has a great concern if he continues to flee medical quadros at this rate.
The problem is that even now we in public institutions have the average age of very old, especially of medical professionals, and it comes about that we don't have 10 years after we have replacement staff, that most doctors who are currently specialists are over 50 x1>, Sejdiu claims.
While according to Federation of Health Unions President Blerim Syla, the demand of Kosovo doctors to leave is greater in German-speaking countries.
The number has been approximately 400, but this number has probably increased, especially in recent years. But what's true is that demand is too big, especially for German-speaking countries”, Syla told the newspaper inFokus.
According to him, students who are on the verge of completing medicine or even newly graduated doctors are just preparing to leave Kosovo.
He is hopeful that the situation will improve with recent changes to the Law on Salaries, which guarantees them higher wages employed in the health system.
And we're hoping that there's going to be a lower number of interested people going abroad”, Syla hopes.
On the basis of the Labour Law, which was adopted in the Kosovo Assembly on February 3rd of this year, the doctor's salary cofficiency has increased.
Family medical professionals will be paid with cofficiency 4.50 =1075.5 euros.
While doctors in specialization, in health institutions and other institutions where the respective profession is exercised will be paid 3.65 = 872.35, reports Infocus.
