Kosovars consume millions of pounds of coffee and tea within the year

About 10 million pounds of coffee and tea are consumed by Kosovars over a year. Some people consume them in their homes, and others choose to drink them at their own locale. Currently, there are 530 cafes and 134 teashops nationwide, where coffee and tea are served. At least as many are registered as businesses [...]
That Kosovars are very fond of tea and coffee, the import statistics of these products that Express has provided from Kosovo Customs testify.
Kosovo Customs claims that each year, as many as 10 million pounds of coffee and tea are introduced to the country, and that millions of euros are spent on these products by Kosovars.
Customs spokesman Adriatic Stavileci has told Gazeta Express that over a year, Kosovars consume 7.5mkg of coffee and over 2 millionkg of tea.
We had about 6 million pounds of immature and baked coffee about 1.4 million pounds, while tea was about 2.2 million pounds. During 2019, however, we had about 1 million pounds of immature and baked coffee about 230,000 pounds [230,000 kg]. As much as 200,000 pounds of tea”, he said.
And since these products are not cultivated in Kosovo, the country has to import from other countries.
Stavileci claims that locally consumed coffee comes from Brazil, Costaica, and Cameroon, as the tea is imported from Shirley.
The largest number of cafes are located in Pristina, 110 cafes respectively. While behind the capital, Prizren is ranked with over 70 cafes.
Besides cafes, there are 132 tea shops, of which 115 continue to be active.
According to these records, with the largest number of teahouses, Vushtrria leads. In this municipality alone, over 30 teahouses are active.
Right after Vushtrri, Podujevo ranks. Even in Mitrovica, the tea seems to be quite consumed. All of this, based on the large number of tea bars served, which goes to 26 teahouses.
But while the number of teahouses in Vushtrri, Mitrovica's Podujevo goes up to 30, in cities such as Rahoveci, Decani, Dragashi, Ghakova and Fusha Kosova, doesn't figure out any business registered as tea shop.
Otherwise, in the last two years alone, the amount of imported tea and coffee amounts to over 50m euros, writes Express.
