Shala had missed the January 9th session at the Prizren Foundation Court in trial over the murder of Haxhi Pertesh in 1998.
His absence prompted the trial body that issued the order that Shala treat the police in court, Kalxo reports. com
After the judge had originally issued a warrant, for the Kosovo Police, for Remzi Shala to seek additional information about his whereabouts, police had failed to find him or to provide additional information about his whereabouts.
Criminal procedure code says “Letter-to-line can be ordered when the defendant is on the run, which has been initiated criminal procedures”.
Also, international paper-linement can be sought in cases where the wanted person is not found in Kosovo or there is evidence that the person lives outside Kosovo.
Shala in December had accepted the invitation for January 17th to be interviewed in The Hague by Special Court prosecutors in The Hague and since then has lost all contact with his lawyer.
Remzi Shala is being tried for war crimes in connection with the 1998 kidnapping of Haxhi Pertesh from Duhla of Suhareka, who had been found dead a few days later.
