Greece was hit Sunday by extreme weather, accompanied by strong winds, with sea ties cut off, delays in air traffic and roadblocks due to the fall of trees in the Athens region, fire forces reported.
Electricity cuts were registered north of the country and in the northeast suburb of Athens. In Nea Smyrni, in the south of the capital, a dozen vehicles have been damaged by the fall of trees. Until now, fire forces ensure that no one is injured.
According to the country's meteorological services, bad weather will continue until Tuesday.
Wind speed reached up to 140 miles per hour, registered in the Aegean Sea by the National Observatory on Saturday evening.
In the country's north, heavy snowfall provided impressive views of Thessaloniki, the second largest city in the country, covered under the blanket of snow.
In Thraki on the border with Turkey, temperatures were recorded up to minus 9 degrees Celsius.
