Foreign media report on violent protest in Tirana

Massive protests organised by the opposition on Tirana's main boulevard also echoed in international media and news agencies. They have described what happened at the protest where many protesters split the police cordon trying to get into the prime minister. “Protesters began breaking the doors of Albania's prime minister's office in [...]

The challengers began breaking the doors of Albania's prime minister's office in Tirana. This is happening during the opposition anti-government protest”, writes “Euronews” that broadcast the entire gathering online.

“Washington Post” writes that thousands of opposition supporters in Albania have clashed with police in an anti-government protest, saying the cabinet is corrupt. They have written further that protesters have broken the police cordon by attempting to join the prime minister.

“Reuters” writes that protesters, after dropping Molotov bombs, tried to break the prime minister's glass, hitting them with strong tools. The same agency reports police officers called on protesters to calm down.

“La Republica” has also stressed the violence shown in protest and efforts to join the prime minister. “Daku at the opposition protest in Tirana. Thousands have appeared in the Albanian capital square, protesting Edi Rama's government, demanding the prime minister's resignation. Protesters, organised by the democratic party, have broken the police cordon, seeking to enter the prime minister with violence”, writes La Republica.

It is noteworthy that none of the internationally recognised media have broadcast any images from Eddie Rama's anti-miting meeting in Vlora.
