spokesperson at the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo(BQK) The statement Ahmeti indicated that from January to October 2018, the value of monetary means sent by exiles has reached 662.9m euros.
“While in 2017, the value of remittances sent from exile amounted to 758.7m euros”, Ahmeti told public television.
According to him, in 2017 and until the month of October 2018, countries of which most exiles have sent their money to our country to Germany, followed by Switzerland, the U.S.A., and other countries.
And former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode (OEK) Safet Gerjaliu, said that although the diaspora is helping a lot of money in Kosovo, it is affecting daily consumption and there is no clear agenda for tools from the diaspora and there are no good economic policies for them.
“We need to do more for categories, Kosovo institutions need to create policies that are hundreds of millions of euros in development service, and not only of consumption and export of ready money”, he told public television.
Gerxhaliu, who was appointed secretary general last year at the Western Balkans' Investment Forum in Trieste, Italy, said the diaspora's role in Kosovo's development, is multidimensional.
Otherwise the Kosovo diaspora is calculated as one of those sending millions of euros to their homeland.
